Two overlapping light app windows show AI Mode citations with a Source preferences button and a preferred-sources list.

Google is testing a "Source preferences" button in AI Mode’s citations sidebar, allowing users to manage their preferred sources from within that panel.

Selecting the button opens the user’s preferred sources list, where they can add or remove sources. Google AI Mode began supporting preferred sources in May; the test puts access to those settings directly in the citations sidebar.

Damien Andell spotted the feature and shared a video on X. Damien wrote, ""Source preferences" directly in AI Mode to manage your preferred sources."

The feature was not visible to the Search Engine Roundtable author who reported the finding. The report illustrated the test with a screenshot and GIF from Andell’s video.
